An attorney based in Lake Ridge, VA, Tracey L. McNeil has held leadership positions across the federal government, private sector, nonprofit organizations, and large international law firms. She currently serves on the Fordham Law Alumni Association board, helping strengthen complex programming and alumni engagement.
Ms. McNeil began her career with Shearman & Sterling and later held legal positions with Travelers, MetLife, and Hunton & Williams. She joined the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in 2008 and became the agency’s first ombudsman in 2014. In that role, she advised senior SEC leaders, assisted retail investors and stakeholders, managed attorneys and paralegals, and represented the agency at more than 100 events.
Ms. McNeil served as special counsel to the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board chair in 2022. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, a master’s degree from Columbia University, and a law degree from Fordham University School of Law.
